Spirulina is a freshwater micro-algae that was already consumed by the Aztec and Mayan civilisations, as well as in certain regions of Africa. This well-known micro-algae has been consumed on every continent for some forty years.
Andean Blue Algae is produced exclusively in Ecuador at an altitude of 2,500 metres. It benefits all year round from a warm, sunny climate in keeping with its natural biotope. Our spirulina is produced in a thin, gently sloping body of water. This permanent water dynamic encourages regular photosynthesis and uniform growth. After harvesting and filtration, Andean Blue Algae is dried using a gentle technique that preserves the integrity of its cells
