Vitamin B9 increases maternal folate levels. Sufficient intake before and during pregnancy helps the foetus to develop properly, particularly with regard to the development of the neural tube. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 400μg or more, at least one month before conception and up to three months after conception.

Each tablet of Densmore Folic Expert 5-MHTF contains 600 µg of vitamin B9 (or 5-MHTF), 1.4 mg of vitamin B6 and 0.38 µg of vitamin B12 :

• The extra vitamin B9 increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus.
• The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of at least 400 µg of folic acid, at least one month before conception and up to three months afterwards.
