(1) Carbohydrates contribute to the recovery of normal muscular function (contraction) after very intense and/or prolonged physical effort resulting in muscular fatigue and a reduction in glycogen reserves in skeletal muscles. The beneficial effect is obtained by consuming carbohydrates, from all sources, at a total dose of 4 g per kg of body weight, in divided doses starting within the first four hours following very intense and/or prolonged physical effort which causes muscular fatigue and a reduction in glycogen reserves in skeletal muscles, and no later than 6 hours after this effort. (2) Matcha tea contains EGCG, an antioxidant from the catechin family.
