How do I put on, use and remove a mask, and what do I do with used Masks?

  • Before putting on a mask, wash your hands with soap and water or a hydro-alcoholic solution.
  • Apply the mask so that it covers your nose and mouth, and make sure it fits snugly on your Face; check that there is no jet of air in your eyes when you breathe out heavily.
  • For FFP masks, a tightness check must be carried out: cover the filtering surface of the mask using a plastic sheet held in place with both hands. Inhale: the mask should press lightly against the face. If the mask does not settle, it is not watertight and needs to be readjusted.
  • Whenever you touch a used mask, wash your hands with soap and water or a hydro-alcoholic solution.
  • If you need to eat or drink, change your Masks.
  • When it becomes damp, replace it with a new mask. Do not reuse single-use masks.
  • To remove the mask: if wearing gloves, remove them and wash your hands with soap and water or with a hydro-alcoholic solution.
  • Then remove the mask from behind (do not touch the front of the mask); dispose of it immediately in a closed waste bin, or, if it is a reusable consumer mask, isolate it in a plastic bag while waiting to wash it; wash your hands with soap and water or with a hydro-alcoholic solution.
