SOMNIL® contains 1mg of Melatonin, which helps to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep.

• Melatonin, or the Sleep hormone, is a hormone produced by the pineal gland from tryptophan. It is therefore naturally present in our bodies and its secretion is regulated by the day/night cycle. It is secreted during the Night, generally peaking around 3am. It is involved in controlling and synchronising circadian rhythms and regulating the day/night rhythm. It is also associated with a hypnotic effect and an increased propensity to sleep.

However, secretion of this hormone declines with age. After the age of 50, its levels are frequently half of those in adolescence. Its synthesis is also disrupted by long-distance travel.

EFSA and numerous Clinique studies attest to the efficiency of Melatonin supplementation in reducing the time it takes to fall asleep (1 mg per day) and in reducing the effects of jet lag (0.5 mg per day). Efficacy is felt within 30 minutes of taking it at bedtime.

Combined with Melatonin, SOMNIL® also contains a complex of plants synergised to act on all phases of sleep:

• Passion flower also promotes relaxation. High in flavonoids, a natural active ingredient, it is also renowned for improving the quality of sleep for a natural, restorative sleep.
• Eschscholtzia or 'California poppy' is traditionally used to reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality.

SOMNIL® also contains Tryptophan and Vitamin B6.

• Tryptophan is an essential amino acid and a precursor of serotonin, which in turn is a precursor of our body's natural melatonin.
