Wild Chicory, Cichorium intybus, of the genus Cichorium and family Asteraceae, grows spontaneously in arid fields, ditches, roadsides, wasteland and meadows. Nothing seems to stand in the way of this dominant plant, which won't let any plant take root near it, as its leaves grow horizontally right from the foot of the plant. However, if its seeds fall to the ground, they form new shoots under the mother plant's protection. Botanically speaking, Wild Chicory is a very hardy, stalked herbaceous plant with a taproot, hairy branches and alternate dark green leaves.
Its flowers, which have no stalk, are bright blue - more rarely white or pink - flower heads surrounded by bracts and grouped in clusters or racemes on a receptacle. This is a particular feature of the Asteraceae. The flower heads only open when the sun is at its brightest, between July and September. The fruits are achenes or aigrettes, topped with a tuft of scales called a pappus.

How to use it
Fleurs de Bach® Original are taken orally. 2drops in a glass of water or on the tongue 4 times a day.
